Paint products are made for paint to adhere at surface temperatures 35 degrees or higher and 80-85 degrees at the highest. This means that we could start painting around late April and through October at the latest.
Most paint products are made to adhere to surfaces in temperatures as cold as 35 degrees surface temperature. “Surface temp” is crucial because it can be 30 degrees but if the sun is hitting the surfaces that will be painted, it’s more than likely that the surface will be higher than 35 degrees!
To stay safe, our residential exterior painting services pause by the end of October and resume until late April. We also have a policy to paint surfaces at temperatures of 40 degrees and above only.
Yes, power washing is a necessary step before painting your house. Even if you have power washed your house recently, we will power wash it again because we’re using high power machines that will take off any dirt that may have built up in your surfaces. If power washing is not done properly, then we’ll end up painting over dirt. Not properly power washing your house can lead to paint failure, and we would not be able to warranty your project.

Wood Surfaces: Wood absorbs paint, hand brushing & rolling is most standard for most projects to push product into wood. This can also be achieved by back rolling and back brushing (Spraying followed by rolling or brushing).
Brick Surfaces: Brick also needs to absorb paint so back rolling and back brushing is the standard for brick, brushing and rolling alone may be performed on smaller areas.
Hardie-Plank (Fiber cement): Hardie-plank is a non-porous surface that doesn’t require brushing or rolling. Meaning that spraying alone is the best application and back rolling and back brushing is not necessary.
Vinyl & Aluminum: Vinyl & Aluminum surfaces are non-porous surfaces that doesn’t require brushing or rolling. Brushing and rolling isn’t necessary unless determined otherwise.

Satin category (Low Gloss, Low Sheen, High Sheen, Eg-shel, Low Lustre, velvet, satin): A satin sheen finish has a low to medium reflectance when hit by light. This sheen isn’t as good as the flat sheens as far as hiding imperfections, but it’s most definitely better when it comes to the durability and performance.

Semi-gloss Category (Semi-gloss, Pearl, Medium Lustre): Semi-gloss sheen create a medium to low-high reflectance on your surfaces when hit by light. This category is best suited to reflect details in millwork, trim and doors. In addition to highlighting details, it also hardens to protect your surfaces better than the flat and satin categories.

Gloss Category (Gloss, High Gloss): Gloss categories create a high reflectance when hit by light. The high reflectance creates almost a mirror-like finish on fine finish millwork for elegant finishes with the best durability possible.
